The Lodge is set within a private natural park which is bursting with wildlife. We often have deer grazing around the gardens of the Lodge.  There is a private lake which you can walk to from the Lodge. It is the perfect spot for a picnic and to enjoy some peace and quiet. The village of Bonley is delightful, its medieval streets and church are a worth a visit. 

 

If you enjoy exploring the outdoors, East Lodge is the perfect base for walking or cycling.  Walkers can explore routes in the private country estate of Carisbrooke Manor as well as the many delightful public footpaths which can be followed onto the South Down Way. We can also arrange to have wellingtons available for use during your stay.  Cyclists are welcome to store bikes securely in our garage.

The Lodge is a short dive to Hassocks and Haywards Heath train stations. Where you can take the train for a day out in London, visit a theatre, london's monuments or do some shopping and then return to the sanctuary of East Lodge.

Local activities 

  • Next door to the lodge is the award winning Bolney Wine Estate. They offer tours, wine tasting and wonderful locally produced food.

  • The world famous Hickstead ShowGround, the UKs largest equestrian competition grounds is just 4 miles away.

  •  The Bolney Stage  the local pub is just 2 minutes walk. They offer locally produced dining.

  • And of course who can forget Brighton? A truly unique city, full of the wonders of cosmopolitan living, fine dining, shopping and the beach. 

  • Goodwood and the famous "Festival of Speed" not to mention the many events throughout the year such a horse racing.
