East Lodge is a beautiful, detached sandstone Grade ll listed property. It is nestled within a private country estate on the edge of the South Down National Park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Lodge was designed and built by E.M.Barry, a hugely respected architect of the 19 century. His work includes the Royal Opera House and the Houses of Parliament, London. East Lodge is situated a short walk from the picturesque village of Bolney, its medieval streets and church are definitely a worth a visit.

East Lodge sleeps 8 guests including The Annex which has been recently renovated. Both are tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. The uniqueness and elegance of the Lodge is an infusion of French Chic and English country living. The original features are a treat, turrets with arrow slots, conical roofs and stone circular stairwell please note this is the only staircase so please consider this when booking regarding young children or guests with mobility issues.

The first floor comprises of three good size bedrooms sleeping up to six guests. The Annex is located in the garden approx. 20 metres from the lodge and sleeping up to 2 guests, it has a kitchenette and bathroom with a shower. The beds can be configured either as singles or doubles, depending on your requirements. The master bedroom is equipped with flat-screen TV and offers guests both Freeview and Netflix. All the beds have Casper mattresses, bed linen is provided, and the beds are carefully prepared for your arrival.

East Lodge has spacious reception rooms making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. The Kitchen, the true heart of the lodge is modern, well-equipped and a great space for entertaining whilst creating your favourite holiday meals. It has an authentic "Lacanche" range cooker with 5 ring gas stove and double oven, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. A complimentary Welcome Basket full of local Sussex produce is provided for our guests upon arrival.
On the first floor there is a family bathroom with a walk-in shower and a large freestanding roll top bath. Guests will also find high quality towels and complimentary toiletries. An additional WC is located on the ground floor. The elegant decor is carried through into the quality in furnishings and finishing touches throughout the Lodge creating a homely feel.
Guest cosiness is guaranteed even during the cooler months of the year with a double-fronted wood burning stove between the dining room and lounge perfect for those chilly afternoons and evenings. We provide complimentary logs, kindling and firelighters. There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and radiators on the first floor.
The beautiful formal dining room has a large antique pine table where you can enjoy dining, playing board games or perhaps listening to music. Curl up on one of the sofas in the living room whilst reading book, watch a film or simply take in the countryside views. The flat screen TV offers Freeview and Netflix and there is free guest WiFi access.
Guests at East Lodge can relax in the private, secluded and fully enclosed gardens surrounding the front and rear of the property. The recently renovated summerhouse with its soft rattan sofa and chairs is somewhere to unwind with a cup of tea or coffee or perhaps a glass of wine. There is a large patio area with high quality rattan garden furniture and a kettle barbecue BBQ for guests to enjoy al fresco dining.
The Lodge is set within a private natural estate which is bursting with wildlife. We often have deer grazing around the gardens of the Lodge. The Views from the Lodge are uninterrupted of the private estate with the scenery, sunrise and sets spoiling our guests. If you enjoy exploring the outdoors, East Lodge is the perfect base for walking or cycling. Guests have exclusive access to explore the private estate as well as the many delightful public footpaths crossing over the land which can be followed onto the South Down Way. We can supply wellington boots during your stay upon request.
There is a private lake on the estate which is the perfect spot for guests to stop for a picnic, go on the swing, watch all the wildlife and enjoy some peace and quiet. The lodge is the perfect location for accessing the South Downs National Park, the coast and day trips to London. The Lodge is a short dive to Hassocks and Haywards Heath train stations. Where you can take the train for a day out in London, visit a theatre, London's monuments or do some shopping and then return to the sanctuary of East Lodge.
