East Lodge is a 3 bedroom detached sandstone Grade ll listed building. It is nestled within a private natural estate on the edge of the South Down National Park in one of the UK Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It sleeps 6 guests with spacious reception rooms to enjoy your time with family and friends. The Lodge was designed and built by E.M.Barry, a hugely respected architect of the 19 century. His work includes the Royal Opera House and the Houses of Parliament, London.
Guests at East Lodge can relax in the private, secluded and enclosed gardens surrounding the front and rear of the property. The recently renovated summerhouse with its soft rattan sofa and chairs is somewhere to unwind with a cup of tea or coffee or perhaps a glass of wine. There is also high quality rattan garden furniture, sun loungers and a kettle barbecue for outdoor dining.
The Kitchen, the true heart of the lodge is modern, spacious and well equipped. It has an authentic "Lacanche" range cooker with 5 ring gas stove and double oven, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. A complimentary Welcome Basket full of local Sussex produce is provided for our guests upon arrival.
The beautiful formal dining room has a large antique pine table where you can enjoy dining, playing board games or perhaps listening to music. Guest cosiness is guaranteed even during the cooler months of the year with a double-fronted wood burning stove between the dining room and lounge as well as underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.
We provide complimentary logs as well as firelighters. The lounge has comfortable sofas and chairs where you can relax, read or watch television. The flat screen TV offers Freeview and Netflix and there is free guest WiFi access.
The uniqueness and elegance of the Lodge is an infusion of French Chic and English country living. The original features are a treat, turrets with arrow slots, stone circular stairwell and of course the conical roofs.
The first floor comprises of three good size bedrooms sleeping up to six guests. Two bedrooms can be configured either as singles or doubles, depending on your requirements and one bedroom has two single beds. The master bedroom is equipped with flatscreen TV and offers guests both Freeview and Netflix. All the beds have Casper mattresses, bed linen is provided and the beds are carefully prepared for your arrival.
There is a family bathroom with a walk in shower and a large freestanding roll top bath where you can relax and watch the sunset over the South Downs. Guests will also find high quality towels and complimentary toiletries. An additional WC is located downstairs. The elegant decor is carried through into the quality in furnishings and finishing touches throughout the Lodge creating a homely feel.
The Views from the Lodge are uninterrupted of the private estate with the scenery, sunrise and sets spoiling our guests. There are large fenced and walled gardens for your privacy and a private walk around the park and a lake where you can stop for a picnic and watch the wildlife.
